×On Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 June, Ghent will once more welcome top gymnasts from all over the world. The nominative list of participants is known! 172 gymnasts from 37 countries will be present in the ‘Topsporthal Vlaanderen’ to take part in the Challenger Cup. The organization is expecting European participants from top gymnastics countries such as Romania, Great-Britain and Ukraine, but also gymnasts from non-European countries such as China, Japan, Canada and Brazil.

62 women will be competing in this Challenger Cup. Internationally renowned gymnasts will be present in Ghent. Among them, the Romanians Diana Maria Chelaru, silver medalist on floor both at the WCh 2010 and the ECh 2011, Elena Amelia Racea, 2010 European champion on the uneven bars, and Diana Laura Bulimar, silver medalist on floor at the YOG 2010. Celine Van Gerner (NED) and Jana Sikulova (CZE) are also registered for this competition.

110 men will take part in the Challenger Cup. Among the international gymnasts, we are looking forward to welcoming Krisztián Berki (HUN), 2007 and 2009 world silver medalist, 2010 and 2011 world gold medalist, and 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011 European champion on pommel horse, Diego Hipólito (BRA), 2005 and 2007 world champion on floor, Daniel Keatings (GBR), European and world all-around silver medalist in 2009 and European champion on pommel horse in 2010, Sam Oldham (GBR), gold medalist on high bar and silver medalist on pommel horse at the YOG 2010, and Zhang Hongtao (CHN), 2009 world champion on pommel horse.

On Saturday 9 June, the gymnasts will compete to qualify for the finals, which will be held on Sunday 10 June.

×This Weekend: Ghent Challenger Cup

The nominative list for Ghent Challenger Cup, which will take place next week-end (9-10 June) has been published.

The list consists mostly of gymnasts that have competed last month at the European Championships: Vasiliki Millousi, Marta Pihan-Kulesza, Wyomi Masela, Celine Van Gerner and Giulia Steingruber, but also some fresh faces such as Jessica Lopez – who has not competed internationally for a while. We will also see the Brazilians Daniele Hypolito and Bruna Leal, and world vault finalists Thi Ha Thanh Phan and Yamilet Pena.

Romania is sending Diana Bulimar, Diana Chelaru and Catalina Ponor. The latter has replaced Amelia Racea who was initially set to compete inGhent on bars and beam.
